About Clarice
About Clarice
Clarice, along with her husband, Don, and their three children have been residents of Hillsborough County since 1998. She was raised an Iowa farm girl, obtained a degree in Des Moines, IA, and was an executive secretary for nine years. She and Don served in full-time ministry for twelve years and currently volunteer at their local church. She enjoys gardening, teaching, songwriting, and spending time with her six grandchildren.
Clarice has been an active Republican voter since she voted for Ronald Reagan in 1980. She decided to do more than “vote and complain” when she was informed and challenged by a constitutional teacher to “do her civic duty” and get involved at the grassroots level! She started looking around for ways to get involved and met her neighbor who introduced her to various Republican Clubs in Hillsborough County, the Candidate Forum at Bells Shoals Baptist Church, campaign events, introduced her to Governor Scott & many other elected officials, and got her involved in the Republican Executive Committee!
As Clarice explored her responsibilities as a Precinct Committeewoman, she saw the need to place her ideas on paper and wrote the Precinct Team Workbook that is currently being used for training Precinct Committeemen and women county and state wide. She included in her training many ways that every Republican in Hillsborough County can be involved.

What does the State Committeewoman do?
The Republican FL State Party is made up of a State Committeewoman (SCW), State Committeeman (SCM) and the Chair from each county. We are the liaisons between the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) and the Republican Party in our County (RPOH/REC) leadership bringing information back and forth. We connect the grassroots to the elected officials to create strong campaigns.
The office of SCW is an inter-party countywide election for a four-year term. There is no pay or compensation with this position. Her duties require travel throughout the state to attend quarterly meetings where the state leadership gathers to strategize and lead the state to Republican victories on election day.
The SCW and SCM are the highest ranking Republican Party officials in the county. They serve as advisors and voting members on the county Republican Board and Republican Executive Committee.
As a SCW, I am part of four Congressional District Caucuses (CDs) and was elected the chair of CD-15. As CD-15 Caucus Chair, I effectively organized quarterly meetings to engage grassroots support for the congressman's efforts in Washington.
I have worked hard with leaders to successfully impact six major areas within our Party in Hillsborough and Florida:
Training – I helped develop curriculum and a digital presentation to train Republican Executive Committee Members, both in Hillsborough and across Florida.
Fundraising – I helped raise over $50,000 net last fall.
Volunteers – I have brought in dozens of volunteers and promote the party everywhere I go.
Republican Clubs – I have engaged with every Republican Club and their presidents toward the goal of unifying our party in Hillsborough and strengthening the Grassroots/Party relationship.
Minority Engagement – I consistently work with the Latino, Hispanic, Asian, Jewish, and Black Communities.
RNC/RPOF/REC – I have made great strides in merging these working relationships to win Republican races - national, state and local.
